95式5.8毫米步枪白光瞄准镜 (Type 95 5.8mm rifle white light scope)
5.8×42 - 3x - China - QBZ95/97






Designed for use on the QBZ95 family of rifles the 95式5.8毫米步枪白光瞄准镜 (Type 95 5.8mm rifle white light sight) is often refered to as the Y/MA95-002 in western sources due to the marking found on the right side of the scope. The scope is fairly conventional in many respects, 3x magnification, 8° FOV, with covered knobs to adjust windage and elevation (Kunming Kunguang Optoelectric, 2022). The reticle can be illuminated by means of a 1/2 AA battery (like the ER14250) that fits inside the mount, it is unclear if it needs a 3v or 3.6v battery.

The QBZ95 was the first service rifle of the Chinese PLA with an integrated scope mount on all rifles, this made the Y/MA95-002 one of the first scopes to be issued on a wide scale to the general infantry. It is unclear when the scope was first issued out, they do appear in photos dated back to 2006, but were probably issued out as early as July, 1997 when the first QBZ95 rifles were seen publicly seen in Hong Kong.

The scope has also been exported along side the 5.56x45 variant of the QBZ95, the QBZ97. Despite the the difference of ammunition their does not appear to be a different variant of the scope for the QBZ97. The difference in ballistics apparenlty not being enough to warrent any changes.

The YMA95-1-600 seems to have been intended to replace the Y/MA95-002.
